Road Rage - Professionalism
"Every morning we wake up with the same choice: What will my attitude be today? Ask yourself that without fail. Decide that no matter what the day brings, your attitude will include three elements: an awareness of how far you've come, gratitude for where you are, and determination to keep moving in the right direction." Toni Sorenson
To be a good bus driver, you can't have road rage. No one would get on your bus. They would literally think you were crazy. You must be composed and prompt. The bus is on a tight schedule and since this is the struggle bus, you know things will come up. This makes it all the more important to be poised and professional.
- I would say my professional demeanor has greatly improved over the last two years. I came in very hesitant and timid my first year. In my first summer at summer summer, I was told I was the most boring and probably one of the least confident teachers to step into the classroom. When I finally got to my own classroom, my confidence grew some, but it wasn’t until this year that I really felt like I was a working professional who knew what was going on.
- In my first year I can say I was extremely prompt. We are supposed to get to work between 7 and 7:25, but I typically arrive around 6:50. I am always on time, even when I felt overwhelmed as a teacher my first year, I was always there. It never failed that I was where I needed to be. I always live by the philosophy that if I’m late if I’m on time. I am very responsible when it comes to managing what time I need to be somewhere.
The past two years have made me grow a lot, both personally and professionally. I couldn't have had a better experience to shape me into the person I am today. I wouldn't change anything, even though things were hard because as a professional I've learned you have to take moments to learn lessons. You need to fail in order to improve and you need to improve to make life better and worthwhile.
